How would you like to do your part to help get children’s books into 2,000 libraries? No, you don’t have to do all those libraries by yourself! )

Project 2000 is part of The Grandma Freund Library Drive and the goal is to get copies of two children’s books into 2,000 libraries in all 50 states and other countries. The books are “Grandma, Does My Moon Shine Over Your House?” and “Abuelita, ¿mi luna brilla sobre tu casa?” and here are more details:

Freundship Press founder, Jane Freund, and her Mom, Mary Hansen Freund, collaborated on “Grandma, Does My Moon Shine Over Your House?” which is based on a conversation Mary had with one of her granddaughters who called her up and asked that question: “Grandma, does my moon shine over your house?” The concept of the book is that a granddaughter and grandmother see the same moon regardless of the distance that separates them. One of Mary’s lifelong goals was to become a published author and this book met that goal! Incidentally, the Grandma Freund Library Drive is named for Mary as she was a voracious reader and amazing educator!

After Mary died, Jane had “Grandma, Does My Moon Shine Over Your House?” culturally translated into Spanish: “Abuelita, ¿mi luna brilla sobre tu casa?” For example, black cats are considered bad luck in the Hispanic culture so Jane’s black cat Theolonius was out and his orange feline brother, Curtis, came into the Spanish version. Mary and Jane shared a belief in the need to learn additional language(s) as doing so sharpens learning skills.

To make this project happen, Freundship Press has reduced the price of the book by 50% to just $5 each (and is charging NO SHIPPING). So you can get involved in Project 2000 for the cost of a fast food meal or a cup of coffee and baked good. (and of course you are welcome to place more than one book).

But the placing is done by the team at Freundship Press. All you have to do is the following:

1. Decide which book(s) you want to donate.
2. Choose a library or libraries to receive your books (if you don’t have any specific ones in mind, we have plenty of places that are looking for books).
3. Determine whether you want to donate the book(s) in your name or Anonymously.
4. Figure out if you want the books donated “In Honor of” or “In Memory of” anybody.
5. Mail a check to Freundship Press (PO Box 9171; Boise, ID 83707) or go online to www.freundshippress.com to pay for the books. Include your library/donor choices and Idaho residents need to add 6% for sales tax.

THAT’S IT!! Freundship Press will take care of putting a label into each book indicating whom the donation is from and for whom (as described above). Freundship Press will mail the book(s) to the library/libraries and Jane will even personally autograph them to the chosen library.
